However when we where choosing the task we wanted to complete, to had a large choice of options, but the teachers advised us which briefs were best for us to choose from, these included:
- A promotion package for the release of an album, to include a music promo, alongside a digipak for the album's release and a magazine advertisement for the digipak.
- A promotion package for a new film, to include a trailer, together with a film magazine front cover, featuring the film and also a poster for the film.
- A promotion package for a new soap opera, to include a TV trailer, together with a listing magazine front cover and a poster for the soap.
- A selection of materials related to a children;s TV drama, to include a title sequence of the TV programme, together with a DVD cover for the series and a front cover to a magazine for the series.
For the main project we have chosen the horror genre, I think this will be good for the trailer because myself and the rest of the group enjoy watching horror films both at home and at the theatres. Also I feel that I am familiar with the conventions for this genre which makes my knowledge of this specific film genre stronger which will help me in research and planning.
In lesson time we decided to analyse each task to pin point our strongest brief as a group. We completed SWOT analysis for each brief and set it out as a mind map. As a group, we identified the strengths, the weaknesses, the opportunities and the threats for each and this helped us finally decide we brief to chose. This was very helpful, as it allowed us to see which brief was realistically possible for us to achieve as a group.
