Film Trailer Group Discussion

We shared our thoughts and ideas on the film trailer.

Today we decided to use a private study session to focus mainly on discussing our film trailer. We made sure all members of the group were free so we all could share our ideas.

During the discussion we came up with many potential ideas, for example one idea was including an overdose of pills scene into the trailer, then from there we came up we how a woman who becomes paranoid and stressed from being stalked takes this overdose. So from this idea we were able to expand this point and generate further points which still follow the conventions of psychological horror.

We also labelled the different sections in narrative order so we know which is the beginning of the film trailer and which is the end. Also when writing down these points which took different theories into consideration these include final girl theory, male gaze theory, todorov theory and barthes narrative codes. When thinking about these theories we came up with ideas for potential shots which incorporate these theories, for example the male gaze theory, I suggested we have a shot of the females waist or legs which sexualises the female and then this applies to the male gaze theory.

We made a mindmap of potential ideas for the film trailer and split them into different groups, for example in one group we have a possible home invasion idea. In this discussion thought of general ideas and expanded on these points generating a more detailed and more realistic film trailer idea.
