Focus Group Feedback

After the focus group and uploading the video's onto YouTube I went back I watched the entire focus group back to summarise the comments made from the participants, the feedback that was given was mixed and therefore I decided on which comments to take into consideration and to apply into the trailer.

Define a Psychological Horror?
The focus group defined a psychological horror as a type of film that messes with the mind and that suspense builds throughout the trailer and also that their is limited violence and gore shown to the audience.

What do you expect to see in a Psychological Horror?
The focus group said that their is normally scenes where it cuts away from the scene of the villain and that their is a sinister scene for example a hand round the corner of the door.

How do you expect a female to be represented?

They expected the female to act very stereotypical female which means the character is to be seen as vulnerable and also screaming a lot of the time when violence occurs.

How do you expect a male to be represented?

The male should be strong and that the male is usually the antagonist but they said it would be refreshing to see a change to have a female for the villain, but he should be suspicious as well.

What is your personal opinion on the narrative idea? (We will read out the Narrative to the Focus 

Group before asking this question)

After reading our narrative, the focus group said it is predictable because every horror has a scary house but it does follow conventions.

Does ''Oppression'' seem a fitting name for the narrative of the film?
The focus group didn't seem to like the name oppression for the film name because they feel like the character isn't being oppressed.

What does the word Oppression mean to do? What mood does it convey?
The focus group continued with their opinions for the film name and they associated this word with slavery which isn't a part of our film, however one member of the focus group came up with the name Transfixed because it describes how the character is feeling throughout the narrative.

What makes an engaging horror trailer?

The focus group said that not revealing too much and getting to know the characters personality is a key factor for an engaging horror trailer.

What would draw your interest?
The focus group said that a strange and disturbing part of the trailer would draw their interest because some horror films like paranormal have rocking chairs which move by themselves so something similar to this would attract there attention and peak their interest.
