Today we decided to use a private study session before our lesson which was later in the day to focus mainly on
discussing our films narrative, but we also added some minor details to the film trailer mind-map to ensure that the narrative fit in with the film trailer.
We added some minor details to the film trailer mindmap so it would fit in with the narrative we discussed.
After we discussed the narrative we decided to make notes on the characters and actors. We first thought of people we knew who would be willing to become an actor for our film trailer, we did this after we knew who the main characters were. The main characters we decided on was a young female who we called Maddie and this specific character we intended to apply final girl theory to and she would become the victim in the films narrative and this particular character we are hoping will be played by Amy Doohan. We picked this specific actor because we used her for our last project in AS media, so we know she is reliable and will be very professional about acting in the trailer.
Our second character is called Elliot, he will play Maddie's boyfriend however he will appear both as a victim and a traitor to Maddie. We decided to choose Sam Gaskell because we wanted to have a male who is very mature and will take the acting seriously also we believe he will fit the part of playing Maddie's boyfriend well as his age matches Amy's and his characteristics like hair and eye colour is what we are looking for.
Our third character is called Delaney, she will play the antagonist in the film however we wanted to pick a female to challenge the stereotypes of villains in psychological horrors as this type of role is usually male dominated. We chose Lauren Hampson to play this role as we believe she could play a very evil role in the film trailer and would be good at keeping up this impersonation of the antagonist.
We begun to make some notes on the actors, characters and sound.
When discussing the narrative, we also discussed some of the sound options we could use, for example instead of using actual eerie noises and sinister tones we could use the sounds from famous songs as the opening parts of these songs include scary tones. One example we listened to is Rihanna's Disturbia and Russian Roulette. We thought these songs had some horror related sounds in them which has made us more open-minded when it comes to choosing the sound later on.
