I decided to research horror films that are based on true events because as a group we are discussing whether or not to use a true story to inspire us for the horror trailer. However I wanted to research whether or not the true story is fully shown and how much is fact and how much is false.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Conjuring
Annabelle
The Strangers
The Amityville Horror
Reality vs Hollywood
Real and Fake Annabelle Doll.
When horror films are being produced and they are based on true stories the story is never 100% accurate to what is shown in films made in Hollywood, this is done to attract their target audience and add more frightening and exciting scenes for the audience to enjoy. In true horror films some parts of the film that are true tend to be exaggerated in order to make the film look more exciting especially in the trailer where the film is shown off to the target audience. An example of how Hollywood exaggerate different aspects of true stories is in the film Annabelle, as the doll that is used in the film has been purposely made to look more scarier to amplify the fear that is related to the doll in the film. So compared to what the doll actually looks like in this image, the fake doll is more effective but is not a true reflection of the true events that occured.
